Association of Florida Colleges Miami Dade College Chapter-Ballots for 2020-2022 Chapter and Campus Boards
Welcome to the Miami Dade College Association of Florida Colleges 2020-2022 Electronic Elections.
Ballots for the Miami Dade College - Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) Chapter are held in order to select the AFC members who will be representing you at Campus, College, and statewide meetings, conferences, and Conventions.
Within the next pages you will be confirming selections for those AFC members who will be part of the College-wide Executive Board of the Chapter representing each Campus. These AFC members were those nominated to the respective positions during the nomination process that took place in early September.
Please confirm your selection of the College-wide positions and your Campus position for your Campus candidate(s) as we want to make the process fully transparent to everyone and have a record of the process for each Campus and College-wide positions. In the event that you have an open officer position in your campus you will elect an interim officer for the position for the year-term. 1. Mark A. Ross is the Director of Testing and Assessment for MDC – Medical Campus. Mark is currently working on his PhD in Educational Leadership. Mark is the Chair for the National College Testing Association’s Growth and Outreach Committee and plays an instrumental role on the NCTA’s Governing Council. Mark has previous experience as an AFC Chapter President that was with the College of Central Florida. As the chapter president for the College of Central Florida, the institution received an award for the increase in membership. Mark’s leadership is founded in being engaging with faculty and staff and helping to identify the issues needed to make the MDC chapter “GREAT” again. “It would be an honor to be the AFC Chapter President for MDC. Our job as AFC executive council members is to be an advocate for our membership and keep the best interest of membership in mind. What we do here at MDC is change lives and it would be a please to take what we do here on a daily basis and provide other institutions with the blueprint.”
2. Daniella Pierre is a native of Miami, Florida with roots descending from the Caribbean Diaspora. She is gainfully employed by the largest and most diverse college in the nation as an Academic and Career Advisor at Miami Dade College. In her changemaking efforts and service, Daniella lends her journalistic voice through various media outlets as a recognized champion for affordable housing and homeownership by highlighting and addressing issues of equity and economic access in the Black community. Daniella holds a Master of Science Degree from Florida International University in Human Resource Management. She has been named one of South Florida’s Top 25 Black Educators; recognized as a Top 40 under 40 by Legacy Magazine; and nominated a White House Changemaker for the United State of Women Summit, under the administration of President Barack Obama. Daniella is a member of Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church; the Miami Dade Branch NAACP; Florida International University Alumni Association; and the Association of Florida Colleges. In addition to her work as an Academic Advisor of the North Campus, Daniella also serves as a longstanding member and Board of Director with the Association of Florida Colleges. Over the years, has fashioned many ideas and accomplishments to the MDC-AFC Chapter of the Association of Florida such as:
Joined AFC in 2013 • Created I Heart AFC • Spearheaded AFC Campus Newsletter • Introduced Heads-Up America (Free College Promise Campaign) • Served as Lead United Way Ambassador, North Campus 2018 • Established partnership with MDC Confucius Institute • Marketed AFC at North Campus convocations • Led and coordinated a host of community events in an effort to promote AFC • Hosted legislative updates with community partners • Elected as Membership Chair of North Campus • Elected as AFC VP of North Campus • Elected as Statewide Commission Chair – Equity, Diversity & Inclusion As you will see, from the above snapshot of my work within AFC, over the years, I am committed to the Association and value the importance of our collective work.
